Wired in and out

The lesson that I have chosen is 2.5.1 ( Wired and Wireless Networks). I've feel like I can confidently say that I've always known the difference between wireless and wired networks because it seems simple enough, wired networks has a wire connecting your device to your network interface than to a connecting media than you have an internet connection. While a wireless connection has your device wirelessly to a wireless antenna and than the internet cutting out a whole step in some set ups. And as someone that loves to play online games I would always prefer to have a wired connection since you don't have to deal slightly slower connections or packet loss with wireless connections.

  1. 2.5.1 Wired and Wireless Networks does a good job on pointing out the convenience of wireless connection. That convenient is not free of limitations or immune to interferences. For example, signals cannot travel indefinitely without losing its strength and a satellite dish must maintain a clear direct "line" to the satellite in orbit. Should weather or any flying object obstruct that "line", connectivity will be interrupted.

Nothing beats a physical connection, both in terms for connecting to the Internet or to another person!

  2. My family used to own an internet cafe. The amount of wires back then was scary!

  3. Wireless is definitely more convenient when it comes to gaming, streaming, and music. Although I haven't lived in a world without a wireless network, I would agree that it is better.

  4. I have to set up wired networks at work occasionally and its such a headache trying to make them all look presentable. The wires are all different lengths and sizes, it's a nightmare.

  5. Well said on the wired connection aspect of the internet. I believe that this is the optimal setup for any computer-based task at home requiring high-speed connection. However, it is always good to have a router that can perform both wired and wireless connections in case of emergencies such as a power outage.

  6. They both have their pros and cons. I find it easier to use a wired connection because you don't have to find a network and don't need a password to connect.

  7. Wireless definitely changed my life. I still remember having the PC with all the devices wired to it, it was insane. The mouse, the keyboard, the speakers, the camera... I appreciate the wireless devices for sure.
