My hobbies seem basic at least to me and my group of friends, we love to collect trading cards mainly Yu-gi-oh, and now recently Pokémon. Yu-gi-oh is the game that started my fascination in collecting cards from loving the show as a kid and seeing the booster packs and pre-built decks in the store's Yu-gi-oh has always stood out to me. By the time that I started middle school some of my friends came over to visit and found some of my old cards, and them asking me if I know how to play and if I could show them how to play. After that I gave them some cards to each of my friends and we all built off what we had and started to get competitive with each other just sending hours play over and over again just to see who can win the most out every set we played.
Another one of my hobbies is playing video games but a certain type of game one of my favorite are Fighting games or know as the FGC (the Fighting Game Community). I'm the only one of my friend group to really enjoy playing fighting games. The main reason the I love fighting games are the complexity of the movement and spacing to have a combo connect or landing frame 1 links in the faster paced games. On the other side the slower games like Street Fighter can be very complex, not only do you have to know how your character works and how their specials work but also predict every single thing that your opponent will do, makes fighting games some of the most entertainment games to play and watch.
Collecting, sharing, and playing trading cards definitely strengthened your friendships :-)
ReplyDeleteMany years ago, I used to play fighting games. Now, I just watch them during EVO.
I like the way you introduce yourself to IS101-3003, Fall 2023, Roberto ^_^
I find fighting games have become its own science. The way each characters skillset interacts with another's have always been interesting to me. The complexity of the newer games made me more interested in the story and plot than actually taking the many days/weeks to get good at the game.
ReplyDeleteYou are a unique individual, Roberto. You are one of the few people who have great eye to hand coordination. Not only this, but you have good reaction time and real time judgement skills. I have spent countless hours trying to master the arcade fighters, but I am mediocre at best. Be proud of your unique skills, they are not basic at all. What I would not give to be good at Street Fighter.
ReplyDeleteI used to play Yu-gi-Oh a very long time ago in a PC. Oh wow, your post made me remember those days. I was never good and used to get frustrated every time. As for video games, I'm terrible at them. I envy you for sure.
ReplyDeleteGrowing up, my cousin played Dungeons and Dragons. I didn't really understand what he was doing when he played but I can appreciate why he enjoyed playing so much. As for me, I still don't know how to play. Ha!
ReplyDeleteI used to play Pokémon with my cousins all the time when I was younger and I found it super fun to trade cards. Due to me being younger than my cousins they would always trick me into trading my better cards for theirs.
ReplyDeleteMy brother is very intrigued by video games as well. He's always been into games like Yu-gi-Oh; it's definitely a passion for him. It's great you have the same interests. I can also say that it's entertaining to watch for myself. Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI've been playing Pokémon Go for a little bit now, but never start to collect any Pokémon cards. I want to though, it looks cool! I've always admire gamers because of their hands and eyes coordinate skill. I've tried playing a couple video games in the past and was never good at it. I can never find where the enemies are shooting me from and dies within 10 minutes of the game hahaha!
ReplyDeleteI used to love pokemon cards as kid and video games especially Call of Duty Black Opps 2.
ReplyDeleteI always wanted to play fighting games to the point I can say I belong to the community, I've played Smash Bros, Injustice 2 and MK franchise games. Although overtime I attempted to play online I got my butt kicked! I guess I never got good at them. Except with Batman in Injustice 2, I was very good with him.
ReplyDeleteMy house has old arcade machine that has all the classic games including street fighter but most of my friends couldn't with me haha. It is always nice to be sounded by the friends who share common hobbies :)
ReplyDeleteI've always loved fighting games, mostly because of how brutal they can be, my favorite is the Mortal Kombat games.
ReplyDeleteFighting games have become so complex over the years I don't even try to compete anymore. I appreciate them on story mode in an "easy" difficulty.
ReplyDeleteI need to know if you've got some rare cards on the low. I need to sell them...
ReplyDeleteI also used to play Pokémon when I was younger. I would trade cards with my cousins and siblings but because I was young my cousins would always trick me into trading my better cards for theirs.
ReplyDeleteI used to play Pokémon Go a few years back. It was fun and definitely really addicting. This game connected me and different friends together to compete and have a great time, just like you! Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI do not play to much game but my favorite used to be playing doctor Mario and also like playing mortal combat
ReplyDeleteI still play games when I can, I think it's a great time to relax with friends.
ReplyDeleteThis is so cool! I as well used to collect Yu-gi-oh and Pokemon cards. Its something that I did as a kid and have now even gotten my children into! My son, daughter and I all play together sometimes and it puts a huge smile on my face! Glad you have such an amazing hobby!
